MARCELLA BANISTER

Funeral services for Marcella E. Banister, 87, of Aurelia, will be Friday, March 30, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Congregational Church in Aurelia with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.

Marcella Evelyn Hanno was born December 18, 1919 in Fulda, MN, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Techau) Hanno. She attended school in Fulda. Marcella worked as a waitress at the Chief Café in Cherokee for five years, and then at a Herman Ehlers Locker in Cherokee. On December 30, 1950, Marcella married Leslie Banister in Cherokee, IA. She enjoyed cooking and baking and providing food for Circle lunches at the Congregational Church.

Marcella died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA.

Preceding Marcella in death were her parents, two sisters; Dorothy and her husband Roy Reed and Viola and her husband Paul Hatch, and one brother, Duane Hanno.

Survivors include her husband, Les Banister of Aurelia, one son, Bruce and his wife Debbie Banister of Independence, MO, one grandson, Scott and his wife Cyan Banister and their daughter Devin of Half Moon Bay, CA, one sister-in-law, Marjean Hanno of Spencer, and other relatives and friends.
