Robert Dean Parrott, 84, of Aurelia died Thursday Nov. 2, 2006, in Sunset Knoll Care and Rehabilitation Center in Aurelia, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, Iowa, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a family prayer service at 7 p.m., at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Bob was born May 31, 1922, in Aurelia, Iowa to Jay and Angie (Dick) Parrott. He was educated in Aurelia, graduating from Aurelia High School in 1940. He attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, playing football for the college his freshman year.

On Sept. 14, 1944, he married Mabel M. Gordon in Cherokee. They farmed north of Aurelia for many years, moving to Aurelia in 1985 and retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, past member of the Kiwanis, and former member of the Aurelia School Board. He was always proud and interested in his three daughters and their families. Bob was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying the Aurelia Bulldogs and the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mabel; daughters, Linda Fixsel and her husband, Larry of Anthon, Iowa, Roberta "Bobbi" Canale and her husband, Michael, M.D. of Jupiter, Fla. and Carol Cook and her husband, John of Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, Marc and Amy Fixsel, Susan and Derrick Lint, Jennifer and Rick Beckler, Peter Canale, Michael Canale, Aaron and Natalie Harwood, Shane Harwood and his fiancée, Nicole, and Adam Harwood; a sister, Marjorie Roethler of Aurelia; and great-grandchildren, Erik and Tanner Fixsel, Caitlyn and Abbygail Lint.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Ralph Roethler; and a great-grandson, Devan Lint.
