Clara Mae Scott, daughter of Mary Jane (Ackerson) and David Scott was born Apr. 27, 1878 in Afton Township, Cherokee County, Ia, , and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Stanley, at Danville, Ind. Feb. 12, 1948.
She taught school in her home community for a number of years, She was a member of the Afton Township Methodist Church and in later years she tranfered to the Larabee Methodist Church.
On Feb. 4, 1903 she married LeRoy D. Smith. To this union 6 children were born. They are ;Emmett of Cherokee, Mrs. Mildred Stanley of Danvile, Ind., Mrs. Lillian Wilkie and John Smith of Larabee, and Roma Smith of Indianapolis Ind.. A son Clifford, died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death on Mar. 15, 1944.
Others left to mourn her death are 3 brothers and 1 sister; Eugene Scott of Fultan Mo; James Scott of Aurelia; John Scott and Mrs. John Raper of Cherokee. There are 7 grand-children.
