July 19, 1942, Mrs. Florence P. Smith, a resident of Winfield since 1926 and a sister of Mrs . L.H. Goodrich (Elva Rose Cannon) died at a local hospital at 1:15 am Sunday. She was 66 years old.

Funeral services are to be conducted from the Morris funeral home at 5 PM Monday. The body will be shipped to Cherokee, Iowa, for burial.

Mrs. smith was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on February 17, 1876. She was reared and educated there and she taught In the rural schools of Cherokee County until 1915 when she moved to Mason City, Iowa,where she remained five years. From 1929 to 1933, Mrs. Smith was in St. Paul , Minnesota, and from there she went to Waterloo, Iowa, to remain until 1936 when she came to Winfield to join her sister, Mrs. Goodrich. Two children survive Mrs. Smith, they are: Mrs. Ernest T Kleiberstein of Englewood, New Jersey, and William Smith of LaFeria, Texas. Seven brother and sisters also survive. They are: Fred F. Cannon, of Roosevelt, Minnesota, C J Cannon, of Burden; Mrs. Allie S. Coleman of National city, CA; Mrs May Butts and Mrs T A Barnes of Plymouth, Iowa; Mrs . L H Goodrich of Winfield; Mrs Fred Blake of Cherokee, Iowa

Prayer services for Mrs. Florence P. smith, 66, who died early Sunday Morning, were held Monday at 5 PM from the Morris Funeral home. A short scripture lesson and prayer were given by th e Rev. C.A. Kitch, pastor of the First Methodist church. Services were attended by immediate relatives and intimate friends. The body left Winfield Tuesday morning for Cherokee, Iowa, Birth place and for many years home of Mrs.Smith, for burial.
