LYLE 'BEANS' WADDELL
Funeral services for Lyle Beans Waddell, 84, of Storm Lake, formerly of Alta, will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Alta. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lyle died Friday, January 21, 2005, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Lyle Lee was born January 31, 1920, at Everly, Iowa. He was adopted by Webb and Belle (Thompson) Waddell of Aurelia. Lyle attended school in Aurelia and graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1, 1942 to September 13, 1945. On November 18, 1955 Lyle married Mildred Genevieve Speulda in Luverne, MN. Lyle worked for the Whitney Elevator 1946 47, Aurelia Post Office 47 48, Paulson Finkbine Lumber 48 51, Akron Lumber 51 52, Schoeneman Lumber 52 56, Lane Moore Lumber 56 68, B&W Lumber 68 70, and from 1970 until his retirement in November, 1999, owned and operated Waddell Lumber in Alta.
Lyle was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and AMVETS, VFW, and the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Preceding Lyle in death were his parents, one sister, Shirley Waddell, and one great-grandson, Aaron Michael Waddell.
Survivors include his wife Mildred of Storm Lake, one son, Carl and his wife Dee Waddell of Peterson, three step-children, Susan Freese of Des Moines, IA, Genevieve Kent of Mesa, AZ, and Richard and his wife Kathy Bateman of Sioux City, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one sister, Donna Wentworth of Chillicothe, MO, and other relatives and friends.
