LOIS CHRISTENSEN

Lois Annajane Whitney was born August 15, 1921, the daughter of Roy Strand Whitney and Pearl Coombs Whitney in Peterson, Iowa. She moved to Aurelia in 1930, and graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1939. She attended Iowa State University for two years studying Dietetics. On September 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to John W. Christensen at the United Church of Christ in Aurelia. To this union three children were born, two daughters, Sue and Jill, and one son, John Jr. (Jack).

Lois was a devoted member of the United Church of Christ and served on all the committees and chairmanships during her lifetime. She also belonged to card clubs and Eastern Star. In her later years she enjoyed making greeting cards for her friends and family.

In 1985 Lois and John moved to Ft. Myers, FL, to spend their winters, returning to their home at Spirit Lake where they have lived permanently since 1992.

Lois died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the Lakes Regional Healthcare Center in Spirit Lake.

Preceding Lois in death were her parents, Roy and Pearl Whitney, and her brother, Rex Whitney.

Survivors include her husband John of Milford, two daughters, Sue and her husband Irv Hubbard of Des Moines, and Jill and her husband David Rebhuhn of Winston-Salem, NC, one son, Jack and his wife Jean Christensen of Fort Dodge. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Mike Hubbard of Des Moines, Matt and his wife Anita Hubbard of Nottingham, England, Todd and his wife Robin Christensen of West Palm Beach, FL, Andrea Christensen of Bettendorf, IA, Monica and her husband Andy Shelly of Ft. Dodge, Mindy Christensen of Chicago, IL, Shelley and her husband Chris Ballantyne of Aurelia, and Mark and his wife Jenny Mummert of Woodstock, GA, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Lelia Whitney of Aurelia and Eileen Arneson of Strawberry Point, IA, one aunt, Gerri Whitney of Storm Lake, and several nieces and nephews.
