CLEGHORN, Iowa -- Lyle R. McIntosh, 82, of Cleghorn passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at the Happy Siesta Health Center in Remsen, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cleghorn Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Patricia Cox officiating. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery, Meriden, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Lyle was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Cleghorn to John and Margaret (Robinson) McIntosh. He graduated from Cleghorn Consolidated Schools in 1941, having played basketball, football and being a member of the band.

He was married to Bernice Goodrich, his high school sweetheart, on Jan. 27, 1946, at Cleghorn Presbyterian Church. He worked for Lockheed in California from 1941 to 1942. He farmed from 1947 until retiring in 1985. He had resided at Happy Siesta Health Center in Remsen since June 21, 2003.

He was a member and elder at Cleghorn Presbyterian Church. The couple were members of the Mariner's Club and had been Skippers three times. He had served on the Cleghorn School board. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, watching sports on television and watching his children's activities.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; a daughter and her husband, Gayle and Bill Cadwallader of Carlsbad, Calif.; two sons and their wives, Roger and Beverly McIntosh of Bakersfield, Calif., and Neal and Diane McIntosh of Mounds View, Minn.; two granddaughters, Kari McIntosh of San Francisco, Calif., and Callie McIntosh of Mounds View, Minn.; four sisters-in-law, Pauline McIntosh of Van Nuys, Calif., Patricia and her husband, Dewey Behrens of Meriden, Iowa, Claudia Goodrich of Ankeny, Iowa, and Doris Dunn of Meriden, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jesse and Warren; and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Goodrich and Darrell Dunn.
