Lola M. Perrett, 94, of Cherokee, and formerly of Quimby and Washta, died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at 10:55 p.m. in the Cherokee Villa Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Washta United Methodist Church. Rev. Carolyn Hollar will officiate and burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta. There will be a family prayer service at 10 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Lola was born on July 8, 1912 on a farm in Pilot Township to Arthur L. and Esther (Smith) Jenness. She attended rural schools and Quimby and Washta Consolidated Schools. She was married to John "Budd" Perrett Sr. on Jan. 16, 1929 at Washta. She attended WIT Adult Education for Nurse's Aide Training, graduating in 1973 and then worked at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee as a nurse's aid for many years. She was a member of the Washta United Methodist Church, Washta Study Club, Kard Klub, 2 neighborhood Clubs, Rebekah Lodge. Lola and Budd were co-chairmen of the Washta Methodist Church Harvest Festival for many years. She had been a resident of the Cherokee Villa the past 11 years, prior to this had lived in Quimby for 20 years and also on farms surrounding Quimby and Washta for many years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, flowers, church work and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Sept. 8, 1978, a daughter Marianne LaVonne in 1930, a son-in-law Don Hanson in 1984, three brothers Elvin, Wesley, and Chesley Jenness and a sister Irma, three sisters-in law, Betty Jenness, Elizabeth Jenness, Barb Jenness, and a brother-in-law Leonard Hendricksen.

She is survived by one son and one daughter: John L. Perrett and his wife Shirley of Quimby; Faith I. Specht and her husband Don of Marcus; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two sisters and three brothers: Alma Hendricksen of Lakefield, Minn.; Alta Mae Baumann and her husband Orville of Lakefield, Minn.; Alfred Jenness of Donahue, Iowa; LeRoy Jenness and his wife Pearl of Cherokee; Miron Jenness and his wife Louise of Wayne, Neb.; sister-in-law Mayme Jenness of Lakefield, Minn.; also many nieces and nephews.
