DEATH OF MRS. MUMMERT

Further Particulars Concerning the Demise of this Respected Lady

Aurelia Sentinel: Mrs. M. Mummert died at her home just south of town Monday night at 12 o’clock, and the announcement of her death was soon made know all over the county. The sudden death of this estimable lady has caused a great deal of sorrow in this vicinity where she was so well known and highly esteemed, and is a hard blow to the relatives and host of friends whom mourn her loss. She was only sick a few days with bilious fever, and no apprehension was felt until she complained of heart trouble only a short time before she expired. Caroline McFarland was born Catrolia, Canada, March 11, 1859, and moved to Marshall county, this state, with her parents when 11 years of age, and came to Cherokee county in 1875, where she has since resided. February 4, 1880, she was married to Moses Mummert. Besides her sorrowing husband and five children, four girls and a boy, she leaves behind her mother, four brothers an four sisters, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. The funeral was held at the M.E. church Thursday at 12 o’clock, conducted by Elder John Early and was attended by a large number of friends-the building being too small to hold the people. The business houses were all closed during the funeral hour. All the county officer and members of the board of supervisors and ex-auditor Beal and ex-member Geo. Johnson came over from Cherokee to attend the funeral. The floral offerings were simply beautiful.
