A Sorrowing Household

Charles James Lockyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lockyer, died in this city at 12:30 on Friday night, Sept. 25, 1895, aged 6 years, 6 months and 3 days, of stomach trouble. The funeral services were held at the Catholic church at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Father Saunders, and were largely attended, the church being packed to the doors. There was a profusion of floral tributes and sympathy in abundant measure was extended the parents in their time of darkest sorrow.

Little Charlie was a bright, loveable child, admired by all who knew him, the pride and joy of his parents, and his sudden death came with crushing effect on all. He had been sick only a few days. On Wednesday his mother returned with him from a visit with her parents in Faribault, Minn., when he seemed to be as well as usual. The suddenness with which the affliction came upon the parents made it hard to bear. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to them.

Mr. P. Hanley, father of Mrs. Lockyer, arrived in the city Monday morning. He missed a train at Fort Dodge, thus preventing his being present at the funeral. He will remain two or three weeks.
