Cherokee Democrat, April 24, 1895

Aurelia Sentinel; Pearl, the little girl from the Orphan’s Home at Sioux City, who was taken to raise by Mr. and Mrs. Amos Forceland of Diamond township last fall, was sent back to the Home Monday evening. The child is afflicted with scrofula (Scrofula is a tuberculous infection of the skin of the neck) and will be sent from Sioux City to the Hospital at Glenwood for treatment, and if cured will be taken back by Mr. and Mrs. Forceland. The little girl has become very much attached to the people she had lived with for the past seven months and who had been so kind to her and cried a though her heart would break as the train stopped at the depot, and she knew it was time to go. Mrs. Forceland is also very fond of the child and it is hoped she can be cured and returned.
