Cherokee Democrat July 17, 1895

The DEMOCRAT is pleased to chronicle this week the marriage of Mr. C.P. Gelse and Miss Blanche Merrill. The ceremony took place at the Washington house last evening at 8 o’clock. Rev. Elinor Gordon of Sioux City performed the ceremony in the presence of a few relatives and close friends of the contracting parties. Mr. Gelse is a popular Illinois Central conductor, and has been a resident of Cherokee long enough to make a friend of every acquaintance. Miss Merrill is known as a lady of rare accomplishments, a noted musician and a warm-hearted, generous and benevolent girl. May their married life be one “long sweet song” of bliss. The couple will go to housekeeping in a home prepared for them on Piety Hill.
