Chapman, James Edwin, mining engineer; b. near Cherokee, Iowa, Dec 27, 1875; s/o Thomas E. & Lydia L.; ed. Northwestern University and Columbia Univ.; editorial staff of "Northwestern," "Syllabus Board," casts "Trig Cremation" (Freshmen play), and junior play; initiated Illinois Psi-Omega, Sept. 12, 1894 (charter memb), later affilitated with new York Mu; delegate S.A.E. Nat'l convention, Kansas City, 1910, contributor to Record of S.A.E.; memb. American Institute of Mining Engineers, Nat'l Geographic society, American Assoc. for Advancement of Scients; has been engaged in mining work in Ecuador, Central America and Mexico; asst. superintendent of the Mammoth mine, which is one of the largest copper mines in the world; m. Alma Marie Peterson, Dec 28, 1909. Residentce, 344 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, Cal. office, Mammoth, Shasta county, Cal.
