Alice Mary Miller, age 85 of Hampton, Iowa, passed away February 23, 2007 at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton, Iowa.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hampton. Visitation was Monday from 4-7 p.m. with scripture service at 7 p.m. at the Sietsema - Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rockwell, Iowa.

Fr. Bernard Grady, Deacon Jerome Miller and Fr. Rudolph Juarez will officiate.

Alice was born January 1, 1922 in New Hampton, Iowa to Jerome and Stella (Sheridan) Shekleton. She received her teaching certificate from the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On February 19, 1949 she married Walter H. Miller in Lawler, Iowa. After her marriage they moved to a farm west of Templeton, Iowa. Because of her husband's ill health, they moved back to Boone where she then resumed teaching. She taught school in rural schools of Chickasaw County, Junior High at Rockwell and for 24 years at Sacred Heart in Boone. She retired from active teaching in 1989, but continued as an aide in the school library for several years.

Alice was a 50 year member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone and a present member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hampton. She enjoyed embroidering, reading, playing cards and tutoring. She especially loved her grand and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter H. Miller; one brother and one sister.

She is survived by her sons Mark W. (Michele) Miller of Norwalk; Jerome A. (Terry) Miller of Iowa City; daughter Maggie M. (Steve) Pearson of Hampton; on brother-in-law, one sister-in-law; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
