Harold O. "Pete" Wegener, 79, of Rock Falls, Iowa, died on Friday, December 10, 1993 at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.

There will be no funeral services. Inurnment will take place at a later date [at Rock Falls Cemetery, Rock Falls, Iowa].

Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, Mason City, was in charge of the arrangements.

Harold was born on November 5, 1914, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Fred and Bertha (Ostemann) Wegener. He married Wilma Brown on June 20, 1937, in Mason City. He attended rural school near Charles City, and later attended Rock Falls school, graduating from Rock Falls High School.

He operated Wegener Trucking at Rock Falls for several years. He also served in the U.S. Army in the European theater during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart medal. Following his discharge from the service he returned to Rock Falls and operated Wegener's Grocery Store for several years. He later operated the Rock Falls Lounge, retiring in 1973.

He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed antiquing and restoring antique furniture. He was a member of the Old Stone United Methodist Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Wegener of Rock Falls; one daughter, Nancy Wegener of Mason City; one brother, Louis Wegener of Mason City; and two sisters, Gertrude Johnson, of Largo, Florida, and Margaret Wegener of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
