S.Sgt. E. C. Schultz Listed Among Iowans Wounded in Action

S/Sgt. Edward C. SCHULTZ, Mason City, was one of 39 Iowans wounded in action in the Asiatic Central Pacific and European areas, as made public by the war department Thursday, according to an AP dispatch received here. It was stated that in all cases the next of kin had previously been notified and had been kept informed directly by the war department of any change in status.

THEIR UNION MEMORIAL SERVICE SUNDAY

The 7th joint public memorial service honoring those who have given their lives in combat will be held Sunday at Music hall at 3:45 p. m. with the Rev. Merle S. DIMBATH giving the eulogy.

Burial flags given by the United States government will be presented to the next of kin of 3 service men: Pvt. Robert Bruce JOHNSON, killed in France last December; Pfc. Richard R. MILLER, who died of wounds received in Belgium in January; and S/Sgt. Edward C. SCHULTZ, killed in India in January. The Gold Star citation scroll given by the national department of the American Legion will also be presented to those receiving the flags.

The program will open with a 5 minute prologue played by Miss Beatrice LYSNE. Mrs. Harold SNYDER will sing 2 selections, accompanied by Mrs. Morris LAIRD.

Company E of the Iowa state guard will furnish the honor guard and firing squad for the day. Bill NICHOLAS is bugler.

All veteran organizations and their auxiliaries, Navy Mothers and United Service Women and all other patriotic organizations will attend in a body with their colors. They are requested to be at Music hall at 3:45.

These memorial services are held regularly the last Sunday in each month.
