PVT. HARRY PAXTON KILLED
in ACTION on ITALY FRONT

Entered Service Year Ago;
Was Shipping Clerk at Decker's

Pvt. Harry PAXTON, whose wife lives in Los Angeles, Cal., was killed in Italy on June 2, according to a telegram received from the secretary of war and signed by the adjutant general.

"The secretary of war desires me to express his deep regret that your husband, Pvt. Harry PAXTON, was killed in action on June 2, in Italy," read the telegram. "Letter follows."

Pvt. PAXTON, parents deceased, entered the service in July a year ago and previous to that time was employed as shipping clerk at Jacob E. Decker and Sons plant. He took his basic training at Fort McClellan, Ala.

Surviving besides his wife are 3 brothers, 2 of whom are in the service: Pvt. Artie PAXTON is somewhere in the south Pacific and G. L. PAXTON, carpenter's mate 1/c, is with the Seabees in the Aleutians; W. H. PAXTON lives at 1301 Jefferson N. W.; 4 sisters: Mrs. J. C. HARBAUGH, Petoskey, Mich.; Mrs. Faye McGUIRE, 501 12th N. W.; Mrs. Wilbur SEHUH, Oshkosh, Wis.; and Mrs. Clarence HANSEN, Albert Lea, Minn. (Russell Photo)

MEMORIAL SERVICES for MASON CITY MAN KILLED in ACTION

Memorial services for Pvt. Harry PAXTON, killed in action in Italy on June 2, will be held at the St. John's Episcopal church Sunday at 4 p. m. with Father C. Burnett WHITEHEAD in charge.

Pvt. PAXTON is the husband of Mrs. Myrtle PAXTON, Los Angeles, and has several brothers and sisters living in or near Mason City. Brothers are W. H. PAXTON, 1301 Jefferson N. W., Pvt. Art PAXTON, stationed in the south Pacific, Carpenter's Mate 1/c Glenn PAXTON, stationed in the Aleutians. Sisters are Mrs. Faye McGUIRE, 501 12th N. W., Mrs. J. C. HARBAUGH, Petoskey, Mich., Mrs. Wilbur SEHUH, Appleton, Wis., and Mrs. Clarence HANSEN, Glennville, Minn.

Mrs. PAXTON received the purple heart from the war department this week.
