Mason Cityans Meet in Southern Camp

Capt. John E. van der LINDEN, formerly with the Globe-Gazette news staff, wrote from Fort McPherson, Ga., of a coincidence experienced in meeting another Mason Cityan, Capt. Richard C. UFFORD, at Fort Benning, Ga., one day recently.

Captain van der LINDEN had stopped in at the officers club at Fort Benning to meet his cousin, "one Capt. Harry van der LINDEN, a North Carolinan." He didn't see him, but saw another officer with the same insignia so stopped to talk to him. "We had quite a time passing anecdotes back and forth about my cousin Harry, when we finally found we're both from Mason City," he wrote.

Captain UFFORD, son of Mrs. Fern GRIFFIN, 314 9th N. E., is at Fort Benning for a 3 month's course in officer's training. He has been stationed at Camp White, Ore. His wife at present is living at 53 River Heights drive.
