Morris KIMBLE and nephew, Ronald LAW, left Wednesday for their homes in Everett, Wash., after spending 10 days with friends in Clear Lake and vicinity.

IN ARMED SERVICES

Ronald Douglas LAW, 19 son of Mr. and Mrs. George LAW, Clear Lake, reported for active duty last week at the Great Lakes naval training station, where he is now undergoing recruit training.

Graduated From Diesel School

Vawter's Son, 7 Grandsons in Services

CLEAR LAKE - M. V. VAWTER, genial mail carrier between the Clear Lake postoffice and railroad stations, believes that he rates rather high in the "service class" since he has one son and seven grandsons in the armed forces of Uncle Sam.

His son, Lt. Wayne VAWTER, is a flight instructor at Sheldon and Clifton RUBIS, Terrill, is in the navy and flies transport planes for the Northwestern Airlines from Edmonton, Canada. Another grandson, Weldon RUBIS, Terrill, joined the marines a month ago and is now at San Diego, Cal.

Four of the grandsons are from Cerro Gordo county, Duane THOMASON, Rock Falls, is a mechanic's helper at Long Beach, Cal; Harley LAW, Clear Lake, is a glider pilot at Beaumont, Texas. The latter's brother, Ronald LAW, is a diesel engineer at Portland, Ore., and Robert LAW is in the navy and located at New Caledonia, near Australia.

The seventh grandson, Ralph McCOY, Des Moines, is a parachute instructor at Fort Benning, Ga.

CLEAR LAKE BRIEFS

Bob LAW, fireman second class, son of James R. LAW, Lincoln township, who is in the navy and stationed in the Solomon islands, met his cousin, Ronald LAW, son of Mr. and Mrs. George LAW, also of Lincoln township, on the beach not long after the latter's ship docked there recently. Bob knew his cousin was in the navy and was keeping a sharp lookout whenever a new ship came to port in hope of spotting Ronald. Both boys are grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. M. V. VAWTER who have in all seven grandsons in the service.

MISSING IN ACTION

Mr. and Mrs. George LAW, Clear Lake, received a message from the war department Thursday stating that their son, Ronald LAW, motor machinist's mate 2/c, is missing in action. No date was given to indicate how long he had been missing and the parents were requested, for reason of safety, not to reveal the name of his ship or position. The last letter received from him was written Dec. 8.

Mate LAW was graduated from the Diesel school at Richmond, Va., in December, 1942, and has been overseas about 2 years. he had participated in 3 major engagements and received 5 stars previous to last December.

F. O. George Harley LAW has arrived from Oklahoma to spend a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George LAW, Lincoln township, and to attend memorial services Sunday at the Church of Christ for his brother, Ronald D. LAW, MoM. M 2/c. His wife, Mrs. George H. LAW, came Sunday from Lubbock, Texas.

MEMORIAL PLANND

Memorial services for Ronald D. LAW, MoMM 2/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. George LAW, Lincoln township, who was killed in action in the Pacific area Dec. 21, 1944, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Church of Christ. The Rev. C. W. HICKS, pastor, will conduct the service.

Mrs. O. J. PIERCE, commander of the Navy Mothers club, requests members to meet Sunday at 1:30 o'clock at Legion hall to go in a body to attend memorial services for Ronald D. LAW, MoMM 2/c, at the Church of Christ at 2:30 o'clock.

Mrs. Walter PRAMER, president of United Service Women's unit, requests members of that group to meet for the same time and place for the same purpose.
