VENTURA – Bill Hinrichs received word Sunday from the war department that his brother, Enoch, is missing in action in North Africa.

Ventura – Bill Hinrichs received word Friday that his brother, Enoch, formerly reported as missing in North Africa, is a prisoner of war.

to Have Died in ServiceEnoch Hinrichs, who has been listed as a prisoner of war from this county, was officially declared to have died on Feb. 15, 1944, according to a presumptive finding of death by the war department following the lapse of a year, since he was first reported missing, it was stated by his brother, Bill Hindrich (sic), now living at Clear Lake.
Hinrichs entered the service from Victor in Iowa county. The family formerly lived at Ventura.
NOTE: Pvt. Hinrichs was taken captive February 15, 1943 by the Germans.
