KILLED IN ITALY

Word from Washington, D. C., advises Mrs. Lloyd Gallup, 1028 2nd N. E., that her husband, Pfc. Lloyd Gallup was killed in action in Italy, Oct. 14. He was serving with the medical corps at the time of his death. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gallup, live at Nora Springs. His wife is the former Alice Davis, Mason City. A daughter also survives.

Memorial Service for Gallup Set

A memorial service for Pfc. Lloyd Gallup, who was killed in action Oct. 14 in Italy, will be held at the sanctuary of the First Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with the Doctor Marvin B. Kober, pastor of the church, conducting the service.

Pfc. Gallup was serving with the medical corps at the time of his death. He entered the service Nov. 9, 1942, and received his training at Camp Barkeley, Tex., and at Camp Rucker, Ala. He was previously employed at Jacob E. Decker and Sons packing plant.

Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Davis, Mason City, a daughter, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gallup, Nora Springs.

Service organizations and their auxiliaries with their colors have been asked to be present at the church at 2 o’clock it was announced.

NOTE: Two of Pfc. Lloyd Gallup’s brothers also died in service: Pvt. Earl B. Gallup in France on July 23, 1944, and Pfc. Robert L. Gallup in Germany on November 23, 1944. Other siblings were six sisters, Mr. John Keith, Mrs. D. L. Billings, Mrs. Roy Wilson and Mrs. George Wilson, all of Nora Springs; Mrs. Henry Steepleton of Mason City and Mrs. Justus Borchers of Chico, Cal.; and 4 brothers, Pvt. Harold, Pfc. Lynn, Cpl. Glen and Leroy, at home.
