J. CHRISTIANSEN RITES ARE HELD
RETIRED FARMER IS BURIED AT ROCK FALLS; WAS BORN IN GERMANY

The body of Jens C. Christiansen, 71 years of age, 1315 Jefferson Avenue Northwest, was brought to Mason City Monday afternoon from Davenport, where he died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. M. Packard. Mr. Christiansen had been ill about a month and suffered from internal complications. He had gone to Davenport to stay at the home of his daughter, as has been his custom in recent years.

Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the home in charge of the Rev. William Galbreth, pastor of the Methodist church at Plymouth. The body had been removed from the Randall Funeral Home at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning where it had been lying in state.

BURIAL AT ROCK FALLS
Services were also held at 2:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church at Rock Falls. Burial was in the Rock Falls Cemetery.

Mr. Christiansen was born October 22, 1858 in Husum, Germany. He came to the United States in 1879 settling in Clinton County, Iowa. On November 27, 1881, he was married to Maria Andreson.

In 1880 the family moved to Cerro Gordo County and resided on a farm until 1918.. Then Mr. Christiansen retired living for two years at Rock Falls, and later coming to Mason City where he had made his home for the past 10 years.

EIGHT CHILDREN LIVING
He is survived by his widow and eight children. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Christiansen, one dying in infancy. Those who are living are John Christiansen, Mason City; Mrs. Carsten Jessen, Osage; Mrs. O. E. Countryman, Wyoming Iowa; Mrs. Harm Oltman, Manly; Mrs. Conrad Gildner, Nora Springs; Cornelius Christiansen, Plymouth; and Mrs. F. M. Packard, Davenport.

One brother, L. N. Christiansen, Nora Springs, also survives Mr. Christiansen. Fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren are living.
