Obituary - Edward G. Dougherty

DOUGHERTY -- Edward G. DOUGHERTY, 93, a former Dougherty township trustee, died Sunday (Sept. 25, 1983) at a Rockwell nursing home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty, with Monsignor John THORNTON officiated. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Church Cemetery, Dougherty.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church School, where a parish rosary and Knights of Columbus rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight.

Mr. DOUGHERTY was a lifelong resident of Dougherty. He was born there Sept. 12, 1890, and attended school there. He later attended Columbia College in Dubuque. He married Beulah CLARK on Feb. 4, 1913, in Monmouth, Ill., and farmed all his life in the Dougherty area.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Senior Citizens and the Farmers Co-op. He also was an A.S.C. board member and a member of Kights of Columbus, third degree.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Gladys) CUBBAGE, Cedar Rapids; a son, Clark, Dougherty; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a brother, Peter, Elkader.
