Soon after his marriage Mr. McGrady came west, settling in Clayton county, and from there he came to Clear Lake in 1871, purchasing a farm four miles northwest of town, where he lived until his death.

He was a faithful husband, a kind and indulgent parent, and although he had been a sufferer for three years, and his death was expected, yet when the end came the family were prostrated with grief.
