Martin Robert Barr
Dougherty- Martin Robert Barr, 79, of Dougherty, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2002) at the Rockwell Community Care Center.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty, with the Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a public scripture wake service at 7 p.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church parish center in Dougherty.

Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E. Mason City, is in charge of the arrangements.

Martin Robert Barr was born on May 13, 1922, in Dougherty, the son of Bernard H. and Ellen (Bamrick) Barr. He attended rural school in the Sandbridge school system, and lived in Dougherty area most of his life, helping his brother, Joe, farm before moving into Dougherty in 1970. Robert lived with his mother, Ellen until going into the Rockwell Community Care Center in 1976.

He was a avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and he was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty.

Left to cherish his memory are his two brothers, Joseph F. Barr of Monticello, Minn. and Jerome Barr and his wife Brenda, of Grinnell, two sisters-in-law, Phyllis A. Barr (Mrs. Joseph Vincent) of Hampton, and Phyllis J. Barr (Mrs. Edward) of Denison; 20 nieces and nephews, 37 great-nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Bernard, Raymond, James, Lyle, Joseph Vincent, Edward Benedick and John Leo Barr.
