Broken Neck.

Mason City Republican —A sad accident happened to one of the old residents of this part of the country last Wednesday. John Tipp, residing on section 19 of Mt. Vernon township, was violently thrown to the ground while getting into a wagon, by the team suddenly starting and running away, the fall breaking his neck. He lived only a short time after the accident happened. The funeral occured Friday. Another man, who was in the wagon, was also thrown out and run over, but not seriously injured.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Nov. 18, 1841 and died Oct. 21, 1896. He is buried in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Swaledale.
