Frank Schaeffer of Esmond Passes Away

Frank Schaffer, 48, a resident of Esmond community for the past five years, died at 1:40 o'clock Wednesday morning at the farm home three miles west of Esmond. The decedent had been ill since November 2, suffering with a severe heart condition. He had been at the Mayo Brothers Clinic in Rochester, Minn., but his condition had not improved much.

Born on May 18, 1899 in Thornton, Iowa, he resided in that vicinity, until five years ago when he came to Esmond, where he has been employed in the farm division of the DeKalb Agricultural Association. He was a member of the DeKalb Moose Order.

On August 4, 1923 he was united in marriage to Frances Bartmess at Thornton. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom survive, two dying in infancy. Left to mourn his death are his widow, eight children, Mrs. Betty Strang of Creston; Don,
Richard, Donna Mae, Nancy Jane, Shirley Ann, Carol Jean and John David, all at home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schaffer of Clear Lake, Iowa, three brothers, Walter of Jefferson City, Mo., and Fred and William of Clear Lake, Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Smith, Mrs. Arthur Butts and Mrs. Alta Davis all of Clear Lake, Iowa.

Final rites were accorded this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Ronan Mortuary in DeKalb with the Rev. W. G. Foote, pastor of the DeKalb First Baptist church in charge. Interment took place in the Oakwood cemetery in that city.
