MASON CITY - Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 5th SE, Mason City, for David A. Wasicek, 16, of 1367 Plymouth Road, who died Wednesday (July 10, 1985) at a Rochester, Minn., hospital, from injuries received in a bicycle-semi accident Monday.

The Rev. Dan Keppler will officiate and burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery, Plymouth.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 2nd SE, Mason City, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight.

The family requests memorials be made to the David A. Wasicek Memorial Fund.

Mr. Wasicek was born March 3, 1969 in Mason City to Dennis and Margery M. (Ramker) Wasicek. He would have been a junior at Mason City High School this fall.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and the YMCA. He attended American Legion Boys State in Des Moines in June, and was sponsored by the Rotary Club.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Margery Wasicek, Mason City; one sister, Christine Wasicek, at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wasicek, Clear Lake; a paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Emil (Helen) Wasicek, Mason City, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ramker, Floyd, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

City teen still 'critical'

ROCHESTER - David Wasicek, 16, of Mason City, who was injured in a bicycle-semi accident Monday, remains in critical condition with head injuries at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Wasicek, who is still in the intensive care unit of the hospital, was injured Monday afternoon when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a semi along Highway 65 three miles north of Mason City. He and a friend, Paul Giese, were riding along the roadway when a southbound semi trailer driven by Jimmie Cockrum of Nora Springs attempted to pass . Wasicek reportedly was hit when he swerved in front of the truck.

He was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and later transferred to Rochester.

Wasicek is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Wasicek, 1367 Plymouth Road.
