MASON CITY, Iowa — Tom James Zanios, 79, of Mason City, Iowa, died Friday, April 9, 1999, in a Mason City hospice. He was the owner and operator of a produce company.

Service was April 13 at the Greek Orthodox Church of Transfiguration in Mason City and burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City under the direction of Major-Erickson Funeral Home of Mason City.

He is survived by his wife, Tula, formerly of Fort Smith; one son, Jamie Zanios of Mason City; five sisters, Marie Malaktaris and Stella Pathoulas of Mason City, Jean James of Dearborn, Mich., Helen Burris of South Lyon, Mich., and Luella Rumeliote of Bloomington, Mont.; two brothers, George of Albuquerque, N.M., and Chris of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Thomas, Whitney and Parker.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tom J. Zanios II Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Hospice of North Iowa or the Community Kitchen of North Iowa.
