Killed by the Cars.
Mason City Globe Gazette:-Barney Thole, a section hand in the employee of the Milwaukee road, was run over by a car which was being switched on tracks in the company’s yard at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, He was cleaning between the rails and did not hear the approaching car until it was too late. The car passed over his body just above the hips and death occured instantly. He was a man about 33 years old and leaves a wife and three children.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Bernhard who was born June 2, 1861 and died Jan. 13, 1897. He is buried in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
