Fatal Collision,
Charles City, July 21.—A bicycle collision, in which one of the riders was fatally injured, occurred here about noon Sunday. August Wiltze, a farmer living near Nora Springs, was riding down Main street when another rider, named Johnson, living three miles east of Charles City, came down an intersecting street and attempted to cross in front of Wiltze, but struck the front wheel of Wiltze’s bicycle, throwing him to the ground. He fell on his face, badly crushing his nose and was rendered unconscious. Two ladies who were standing near carried Wiltzie to a shade tree and by application of cold water succeeded in restoring him to consciousness. A doctor was sent for, but failing to arrive immediately, Wiltzie was placed in a buggy to be taken to the home of his uncle who lives in Charles City, but before reaching the house he expired. A coroner’s inquest was held and a verdict of accidental killing was returned. Wiltze was a young man about 21 years of age and unmarried.

Transcriber’s Note: The last name is spelled two different ways.
