Slashed his Throat.
Mason City, March 13.—Henry Peterson, about 27 years of age, committed suicide about noon today by cutting his throat with a razor at the National hotel. Little is known of the man or the cause for his rash act. He came here last Thursday, and was taken sick almost at once with a mild form of pneumonia. He was a Swede, but spoke English fluently. He was good looking, well dressed, and he had a gold watch and some money, which he gave to Landlord Starbuck when he was taken sick. He said that he had lived at Kelley, near Ames, and that he had worked at several places in Minnesota and in this state. He gave it out that he was a tile worker, but it was noticed that his hands were soft as if they had not been used to manual labor of any kind. The room in which he committed suicide was just opposite that in which the life blood flowed from the murdered James Allison about three weeks ago.
