Mason City Republican—A horrible accident occurred in this city on Tuesday noon, resulting in the death of Mrs. Gray. At about noon she was lighting a fire. It would appear that she poured kerosene from the can upon the flame. This caused all the oil to become on fire. Some fell on her clothing and she was soon a mass of flames. Nearly all the clothing was burned from her person, and in some places the flesh literally fell from the bones. Bert Gale and Prof. A. R. Sale living near, ran to her assistance and helped to put out the flames. There was some fire in the room but this was speedily extinguished, Medical aid was soon at hand. She came to consciousness but death mercifully came to her relief at 7 o’clock in the evening.
