Following is an item taken from the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald:
Mason City, Ia., June 6th.—The body of Eman J. Krouse was found in the hayloft of an old barn near Mason City Junction. He has been missing since Saturday. From what can be learned he had some trouble and his wife caused him to be arrested and he was placed in jail. Later he gave bonds to keep the peace. It is thought that brooding over the disgrace through which he had passed, caused him to commit suicide. A few days ago his wife took a revolver and some carbolic acid from his trunk. She feared that her husband would carry out some of his threats and take the lives of the whole family consisting of wife and six children. It is thought that death was caused by drinking carbolic acid.
