Clear Lake - Mrs. E. E. Chappell, 76,whose husband was the founder of the Chappell Clinic, died suddenly Sunday morning at a Mason City hospital. She was found ill at he home, 404 N 4th St, and was taken to the hospital Saturday evening.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday a the Methodist Church, Clear Lake. Dr. John E. DeLong will officiate. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery with the Wilcox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Idonia Barnes Chappell was born May 7, 1884 at Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of John and Mary Snow Barnes, She was married to Dr. Chappell Aug. 24 1910, near Marion, Ind. Dr. and Mrs. Chappell came to Clear Lake in 1915, where Dr. Chappell founded the Chappell Clinic in 1936. He died in 1947.
Survivors are one son, Dr. Edward L. Chappell, and two daughter, Mrs. Henry (Greta) Thomas, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Ted R. (Charlotte) Sherman, Baltimore, Md., one brother, John Barnes, Traverse City, Mich., and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Chappell was president of the Clear Lake Women's Christian Temperance Union and a member of the Methodist Church, circle 7; the Business and Professional Women's Club, Mason City, and state director of Student Temperance for WCTU. She was an alumnus of the Cincinnati Missionary Training School and Christ Hospital.
