OBITUARY FOR MARVIN E. MULHERN
CLEAR LAKE - Marvin E. Mulhern, 81, of 908 S. 14th St., Clear Lake, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 1994) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with the Rev. Fred Lewis of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with Clear Lake VFW doing military honors.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Marvin E. Mulhern memorial fund.
He was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Brooklyn, the son of Fred and Allie Mae (Veverka) Mulhern. He attended school in Mason City. He worked for Jacob B. Decker's packing plant in Mason City from 1929-1975. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Esther Kennedy, March 22, 1969, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City. He loved to fish.
He is survived by his mother, Allie Mulhern, Mason City; his wife, Esther Mulhern, Clear Lake, two daughters, Beverly Stiles and her husband, Leland, Graettinger, and Karen Stock and her husband, Robert, Omaha, Neb.; one stepson, Robert Kennedy and his wife, Mary Ann, Fertile; three stepdaughters, Linda Peterson and her husband, Richard, Clear Lake, Mary Whitnable and her husband, Roger, Mason City, and Arlene Kafer and her husband, Jerry, Sheffield; one step son-in-law, Cliff McCloud, Mason City; one brother, Fred Mulhern, Mason City; two sisters, Mildred Losh, Mason City, and Colleen Seel, Colorado; five grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
