July 13, 2008MASON CITY --- Gladys Dosen, 88, of Mason City, died Saturday (July 12, 2008) at the Manly Care Center in Manly.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Tom Healey, Hospice of North Iowa chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Gladys was born on July 30, 1919, in Mason City, the daughter of Reinholt and Elizabeth (Somers) Schmidt. She was confirmed and later married on June 1, 1947, to Mike Dosen at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Gladys enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchild and great-grandchildren. She was a competitive bowler and also enjoyed reading and cooking.
She is survived by her three children, Kristine Van Wert and husband Lawrence of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael Dosen of Mason City and Kathy Clapper and husband Michael of Burt; one grandchild, Michele Lawson of Mason City; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Alexis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mike in 1999; one brother and three sisters.
