Mason City --- Byron G. Dodd, 70, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Sunday (September 17, 2017) at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Hospice of North Iowa, in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday (September 21, 2017) at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 428 W Walnut St, Manly with Reverend Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. The family will greet friends from 5 to 6 p.m.

Byron George Dodd was born on March 27, 1947 in Mason City to George and Alice Geneva (Prestholt) Dodd in Mason City. He graduated from Manly High School In 1965. He joined the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged in 1968. Byron married Bonnie Gregory on November 2, 1968, and to this union four children were born.

Byron loved fishing, camping, spending time outdoors, being with his wife Bonnie, going on weekend trips with friends, and playing card games with friends, especially cribbage. He had a big heart, loved his grandchildren and grand-fir-kids, and was looking forward to becoming a great-grandfather in December.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Bonnie; children, Michele (Tom) Anderson, Dan (Kindra) Dodd, Jason (April) Dodd, and Amy (Rod) Lang; grandchildren, Kelsey (Micah) Haley, Mackensie, Morgan, Matthew and Ryan; his fur-kids; great-grandbaby due in December; his niece, Alice and his nephew, Michael and other extended family.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Geneva (Prestholt) Dodd, sister Dolly, mother and father-in-law, Morris and Elizabeth Gregory and his nephew, Mark.
