Clear Lake -– Wilma Esther Amundson, 85, of Clear Lake died Friday, October 19, 2018, at the IOOF Home in Mason City.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Rev. Bob Snitzer officiating. Inurnment will be at Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Clear Lake.

Wilma was born December 22, 1932, the daughter of Jacob Eugene and Hazel (Vawter) McCoy in Chariton, IA. She married Chester Amundson on June 19, 1953, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Wilma grew up in Chariton before moving to Mason City and graduating from St. Joseph's Catholic High School. She was a homemaker for most of her career and also worked as a home health aide.

Wilma was a member of Pilot Knob Lutheran Church in Forest City. She loved her family and was very close with her siblings. Together, they often played cards and traveled. She also enjoyed shopping and watching soap operas and game shows.

Wilma is survived by five children, Rhonda Nowell of Albany, OR, Susan Amundson of Austin, MN, Jane (Craig) Van Horn of Mason City, Sara (Don Finch) Ryerson of Britt and Eric (Kendra) Amundson of Leland; four grandchildren, Derek Amundson, Halie (Bryce) Munson, Nick (Abby) Nieman and Emily Ryerson; two great-grandsons, Rhys Nieman and Wyatt Munson; two sisters, Maxine Tantow and Colleen Rogness; a brother, John Moore; a brother-in-law, Howard Amundson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Ralph and his wife, Harriet, Merrill and his wife, Cleo and Ervin in his early childhood; a sister, Helen Conley; three brothers-in-law, Paul Tantow, Byford Rogness and Leonard and his wife, Mary Lou Amundson; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Russel.

Wilma's family wishes to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to the IOOF Home, Hospice of North Iowa and Mercy Cancer Center, for their care and kindness shown to Wilma.
