DOUGHERTY MOTHER OF TWO PRIESTS DIES AT 67

Dougherty - Mrs Mary Merfeld, 67, mother of two Catholic clergymen, died at a hospital in Mason City, at 9 p.m. Wednesday.

A son, the Rev. Vincent Merfeld is pastor at Charles City and the Rev. A. J. Merfeld is pastor at New Orleans, La. Other sons are Leo of Sacramento, Cal., and Lewis, John and Al of Dougherty.

She also leaves three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Wihlm and Mrs. Everett O'Connor of Dougherty and Mrs. Leona Radford of Des Moines; two brothers and six sisters. Her husband preceded her in death. She was born in Germany.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Patrick's church Saturday at 9 a.m. with Auxilliary Bishop Edward A. Fitzgerald of Dubuque in charge.
