STEPHEN JOHN BOYLE

Stephen John Boyle was born in Rockwell, Iowa, Jan. 1, 1895, received his education at Sacred Heart Academy, graduating in 1914.

He attended Notre Dame University until war was declared when he enlisted in the Navy.
He was stationed at Goat Island, San Francisco, Calif.
After two years of service he returned home and lived with his sister Mrs Martin Dolan of Dougherty, Iowa.

Last December he purchased a farm three and one half miles East of Barronette, Wis., where he resided until he met his untimely death.

The accident occurred while he was out hunting. In crossing a wire fence his foot caught and the gun came in contact with the wire which caused it to discharge killing him instantly.

The remains arrived here over the M. & St. L. Monday evening and was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Wm. Colby, 806 North Federal Avenue.

The Funeral was held on Tuesday morning at St. Patrick's church, Dougherty, Iowa and interment made in the cemetery which adjoins the church.

Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. Patrick J. Boyle of Waukon, Iowa, assisted by Rev. Joseph J. Boyle, Norte Dame, Ind. and Rev. Joseph M. Campbell of Ames, Iowa, brothers and cousin of the deceased.

Rev. J. J. Clune of Postville acted as master of ceremonies and Rev. R. P. Murphy of Mason City preached as eloquent funeral service.
