Mayme Kelly Geary June 13, 1925

The funeral service for Mrs. Joseph Geary of Dougherty was held Monday morning in the St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church.

A procession of more than 80 cars followed the body to the church which was crowded to the
doors at the 10 o’clock mass celebrated by the Rev. P. D. O’Rielly and a sermon by the Rev.
Frank Pagelsperger, in which he spoke plainly of the model Christian life and beautiful character
of Mrs. Geary.

The death Saturday morning of Mayme Kelly Geary saddened the vicinity of Dougherty. She was
the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Kelly and was born 35 years ago in the same community in which she lived and in which she was rearing her family. She was also educated in the public
schools of Cerro Gordo county where her acquaintances always became her friends, for she had an unusual disposition and the multitude of little kindnesses performed by her linked with a keen sense of justice were characteristic of her as a girl, wife and mother.

On Feb. 3, 1916, she was married to Joseph Geary of Dougherty. Three girls were born to the
home. Mary Leone, 6; Catherine, 4 and Margaret Arlene 8 months.

Besides her immediate family, she leaves her mother, Mrs. Catherine Kelly, four sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Jas. Rooney of Dougherty, Mrs. Joe Gallagher of Rockwell, Patsy Kelly of
Dougherty, William Kelly of Dougherty, Eugene, Cletus, Anita and Lorene Kelly who reside at
home. All were with her when she died.

The pallbearers were Dennis McManus, John Hogan, John Beecher, James Mullen, Ralph Hogan
and George Kelsh.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. John Kelly and Miss Mary Kelly of
Manitowoc, Wis.; Mrs. and Mrs. Murphy of Williams; Mr. and Mrs. Cane of Williams; Mrs. Flynn
of Marble Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carney of Clear Lake; Mrs. Margaret Olson of Clear Lake;
Mrs. John Spalla of Britt; Mrs. Henneway of Goodell; Miss Viola Kelly; Mr. and Mrs. Pat
Murphy; Mr. and Mrs. William Hogan; Neil Kelly; John Hogan; Rose Kelsh; Mrs. Mary Quinn,
Mr. and Mrs. Rumblefinger all of Mason City and John Kennedy of Iowa Falls.
