M. J. Keenan Services to be Saturday

Michael J. Keenan, 93, died at his home, 1332 Charles Place N.E. at 3 p.m. Thursday following a long illness.

He had lived 40 years in this vicinity and was a retired farmer.

Mr. Keenan was born May 7, 1850, in Philadelphia, son of Peter and Sarah Keenan. He moved with his family to Iowa when he was a small boy and during the Civil War the family moved to Mississippi.
After the Civil War he returned to Dougherty where he lived 15 years during which he operated a drayline a number of years. He was married to Mary Ellen Wade and later moved to the vicinity of Mason City where he farmed.

Surviving are a brother, John J. Keenan, Mason City, a sister, Mrs Mary Kelly, Mason City, three nephews, Ed., Tom and Jack Keenan, Mason City and three nieces, Mary Peterson, Denver Colo., Mrs Leo (Agnes) Hickey and Mrs. Clifford (Loretto) Graney, Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and a brother.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1006 and the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Requiem High Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Roger Sullivan assistant pastor at Holy Family Church officiating.

Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dougherty.
