MRS. CUMMINGS, PIONEER, DIES
Lived Here 63 Years; Funeral Is Tuesday

Mrs. Christina O. Cummings, 94, died at her home, 942 Delaware N. E., Saturday afternoon [February 12, 1944] following an illness. She had been a resident of the city for the past 63 years.

Mrs. Cummings was born May 15, 1849, at Eli, Canada, and came with her family when she was 4 years of age. They moved from West Point, Wis. to Marble Rock in 1880, and to Mason City in 1881. She had made her home here since that time.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth J. Pettitt, Elida, New Mex., and 2 sons, John and Roscoe Cummings, Mason City, and 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 sons and a daughter.

Funeral services will be held at the Major Memorial chapel at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Doctor Paul Arnold Peterson of the Wesley Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood cemetery. The Major funeral home in charge.

Transcriber's Note: Christina was the wife of Dr. Albion K. Cummings (24 Jun 1844 - 07 Sep 1913), Civil War Veteran, Cpl. with Co. B, 6th Wisconsin Vol. Infantry; enlisted 16 Feb 1863; wounded at Laurel Hill PA 10 May 1864; mustered out 14 Jul 1865; G.A.R.
