MASON CITY - Andrew Jay Christensen Jr., 84, of 1424 S. Coolidge, died Saturday (Oct. 28, 2000) at the Manly Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Randy Nielson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home Wednesday.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Those planning a expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Andrew Christensen Memorial Fund.

Andrew was born on July 19, 1916, in rural Sheffield, the son of Andrew J. and Oma (Frazier) Christensen Sr. He spent his youth in Sheffield and attended school there. He was employed at Northwestern Cement plant from 1951 until 1981.

On March 11, 1939, he was united in marriage to Ardella Sandberg in Hampton. To this union of 61 years were born five children.

Andrew loved to dance and was a drummer for a dance band. When he was able, he enjoyed the outdoors, doing many activities that included pheasant hunting, fishing, gardening and building things. He also road motorcycles and enjoyed watching wrestling and the roller derby. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren.

Those thankful in sharing Andrew's life include his wife, Ardella, Mason City; his five children, Barbara and her husband, John Dahle, Minneapolis, Minn., Connie Lindsay, Larry and his wife, Janice Christensen, Dennis and his wife, Marsha Christensen, and James and his wife, Wanda Christensen, all of Mason City; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Huff, Sheffield; one brother-in-law, Jerry Sandberg, Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents.
