MASON CITY -- Richard “Rick” Dean Arhart, 48, formerly of Mason City, passed away Friday (April 13, 2018) at home in Rochester, Minnesota, after a courageous battle with kidney disease.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, with Reverend Steve Hansen officiating. Burial will be held in the Westside Cemetery, Marble Rock. A visitation will be held 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City. Memorial contributions may be directed to Eisenberg Dialysis Unit at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Rick was born December 2, 1969 in Mason City, son of Robert and Delores (Krull) Arhart. He attended Mason City High School, class of 1988. During Rick's high school years, he worked at Hy-Vee in Mason City. Rick greatest achievement in life, was raising his two beautiful daughters, and being able to be a stay at home dad the last several years. He enjoyed taking the girls on bike rides, going to concerts, amusement parks and making them laugh throughout the years. It was always important to Rick, that the girls remembered him for his humor and not for his poor health. He also liked fast cars, and one of his prized possessions was his yellow and black “Bumblebee” Camaro. Rick was an avid dog lover and had many dogs that were important to him throughout his life.

Rick is survived by his his wife, Tammy Arhart of Rochester, MN; two daughters, Abigail and Alexandria Arhart; brother, Randy (Jane) Arhart; two sisters, Janine (Brian) Hammarstedt and Kim (Kevin) Smith; eight nieces and nephews; eleven great nieces and nephews; father and mother in-law, John and Patricia Bailey; father in-law, Curtis Parker and many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Delores Arhart; paternal grandparents, Elston Arhart, Vern and Ella Mae Merrill; maternal grandparents, Henry and Velma Krull.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Greenlund and the Dialysis Unit of Mayo Clinic, for their dedicated care for Rick over the years.
