Dougherty- Clara M. Wihlm 87, formerly of Dougherty died Wednesday (April 10, 1985) at a Rockwell nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty, with the Rev. Vincent Merfeld, the Rev. John O'Connor and the Rev. Arthur Merfeld, officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today until 1 p.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd NE, Mason City, and after 3 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic School, Dougherty.

A parish wake will be held at 7:30 tonight at the funeral chapel in Mason City, and a parish rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the school in Dougherty.
Mrs Wihlm was born June 20, 1897 in Marble Rock, the daughter of John and Mary (Noss) Merfeld.
She had lived all her life in Dougherty except the last seven years when she lived in Rockford.

On Jan. 27, 1921, she married Joseph Wihlm in Dougherty. He died in 1962.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church until she moved to Rockford where she joined Holy Name Catholic Church. She was an active member of the church circles and altar and rosary guilds in Dougherty and Rockford.
Mrs. Wihlm was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Dougherty, and the Rockford Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Thomas (Mary) Paulus, Mason City, and Mrs Joseph (Rita) Paulus, Marble Rock; three sons, Joseph, Sheffield; Alphonse, Rockford and Robert, Cedar Rapids; one foster son John "Frank" Backer, Monterey Park, Calif.; 28 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs Bertha (O'Connor) Tienan, Mason City, and five brothers,
Al Merfeld, Belmond, the Rev. Arthur Merfeld, New York, N. Y.; Leo Merfeld, Sacramento, Calf., John Merfeld, Jr., Charles City, and the Rev. Vincent Merfeld, Highland Calif.
