Pioneer Dies at Dougherty

Rites to be Saturday for Patrick Sweeny

Dougherty- Funeral services for Patrick Sweeny, 71, will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's church at Dougherty, the Rev. Father Paul Maquire officiating.

He died Tuesday at a hospital in Mason City following a heart attack.

Mr. Sweeny was born at Grand Forks, N. Dak., April 23, 1875. He farmed for some years at Donnelly Minn., then moved to Iowa where he engaged in the implement business at Mason City and later at Dougherty.

He leaves two daughters, Miss Rose Sweeney, of Los Angeles, and Mrs. David Roderick of Dougherty, also the following sisters and brothers: Marie and Rose Sweeney, Mrs. Francis Daley and James, Timothy and George Sweeny, all of Larimor, N. Dak.

His wife and two sons preceded him in death.
There are three grandchildren.
