MASON CITY -- Mrs. Marjorie M. Gordon, 83, of Mason City, formerly of rural Manly, died Thursday (Jan. 19, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett, with the Rev. Selmar ``Sam'' Hernes officiating. Interment will be in the Kensett Cemetery, Kensett. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

The family suggests memorials to the Marjorie M. Gordon Memorial Fund.

Marjorie was born May 3, 1912, in Mason City, the daughter of Sidney and Emma (Snell) McKenzy. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1929.

Marjorie married Ernest R. Gordon on March 25, 1929, in Fort Dodge. They moved to a rural farm northeast of Manly where she lived until her husband's death in 1985. She then moved to the Manor in Mason City.

She loved to garden, raise flowers and attend senior citizens classes provided by NIACC in Mason City.

She was a neighborhood watch volunteer and also a volunteer for some of her friends who were involved with Medical Alert.

Marjorie was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Betty Huisman and her husband, Duane, Waverly; one son, Richard Gordon and his wife, Marlyss, of Kensett; one sister, Lois Gerk of Mason City; six grandchildren, Kurt Huisman and his wife, Rena, of Mesa, Ariz.; Cherolynn Hedges and her husband, Robin, of Eugene, Ore.; Randy Mooney and her husband, Andy, of Abbotsford, British Columbia; Rick Gordon and his wife, Roxanne, of Plymouth; Joel Gordon and his wife, Kris, of Northwood, and Jessica Marvin and her husband, Rodney, of Mason City. She was great- grandmother to 11.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Thomas Gordon in 1965; and two brothers, Howard and Harold McKenzy.
