PLYMOUTH -- Russel Edward Glassel, 74 died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, after a lengthy illness.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at the Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, with Pastor Tom Healey officiating. There will be a flag presentation service by the Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association.

Russel Edward Glassel was born November 23, 1932, the son of Roy and Stella (Walk) Glassel. Russel was united in marriage to Elizabeth Pheil on May 28, 1955; to this union two daughters were born Catherine Rose and Terry Lynn. They made their home in Mason City. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for many years until his retirement.

Russel enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends at coffee and at JakeÂ's Place. He was a life long member of the VFW.

Russel is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Paul) Riles, Plymouth, Terry Roberts, Minnesota; grandchildren Lindy Larson, Minneapolis, MN, Dakota Roberts, Minnesota; and one great granddaughter Allison Snow, Minneapolis, MN; along with many friends.

His parents, wife Elizabeth and brother Doug Glassel preceded him in death.
